The Argyle Convenience Store is changing hands after 28 years of operation. The following was sent to the Mt. Pleasant News email group:
The Argyle Convenient Store, 3220 17th St, has been operated
for the last 28 years by Rocky Rakani and his wife Deanna. Over those
years they and their staff have provided a "convenient" place to pick
up grocery essentials, snacks, & beverages. For almost three decades
they have served their neighborhood family for seventeen hours a day, seven
days a week, watched Mt Pleasant children grow up, endured a couple of armed
robberies, coped with legistative retail changes, and survived as the
neighborhood has evolved.
It is time Rocky & Deanna to chose a less stresssful and consuming life,
and spend more time with their own family.
On Sunday, October 27, from 3-5pm, patrons, friends and neighbors are invited
to stop by Don Juan's Restaurant, 1660 Lamont St, to thank them, say goodbye
and wish them well.
But not to worry, the Argyle Convenient Store will continue to conveniently
serve the Mount Pleasant community. Starting in November Mark Aguirre and
Wayne Gleason, owner-developers of the Argyle and Park Ridge apartment
buildings will assume management as well of the Argyle Convenient Store,
Forgot something? Need something? Stop in. It will still be a
convenient place to shop.
